Announces Opening Date of New Holbeach Store Bright, well-laid out and crammed with a wide choice of goods at reasonable prices, QD’s new stores are proving a favourite shopping destination across the country The date for the opening of QD Stores' latest branch in Holbeach has been set for 16th February. Staff at the store will welcome their first customers at 9 am following an opening ceremony performed by Councillor Howard Johnson. As announced in the New Year, the retailer, which opened a store in Boston last summer, is moving into the premises formerly occupied by Woolworths. Recruitment for the twelve new retail positions is now underway with interviews taking place on 25th and 26th January at the Mansion Hotel, High Street in Holbeach. The new Store Manager is Vickie Chapman. QD's Marketing Operations Manager, Alan Hatcher, confirmed that the Holbeach store, the first of QD's new compact format outlets, has attracted a great deal of media and public interest. "Despite being on a slightly smaller scale than other QD branches, customers will still find the same key brands, quality products and cut-price offers for which we are best known. Holbeach's QD will provide choice and convenience saving shoppers both time and money." In March QD will find out if they have won the prestigious title of "Emerging Retailer of the Year" following their nomination as a finalist in the Oracle® Retail Week Awards 2010. This award recognises the success and achievements of retail businesses whose new concepts have made them stand out from other retailers in the highly competitive UK retail market. 2009 saw the QD Stores Group expand its core network of QD branded stores to thirty-three. It plans to increase this number to 50 by the end of 2010. QD currently employs over 1,000 staff throughout its nationwide chain of high street shops, Cherry Lane garden centres, Buyright superstore in Suffolk, and specialist fishing outlet, Lathams, on the Norfolk Broads.
