QD’s Saffron Walden Store Opens for Business At 9 am sharp on Friday, 28th May QD's eagerly awaited new store in Saffron Walden was officially opened by Chairman Elect of Uttlesford District Council, Councillor Sue Schneider. Waiting to greet the throng of shoppers who gathered outside to watch the opening ceremony, was the store's new team who has spent weeks putting the final preparations in place. Baskets were quickly filled as the first customers took advantage of special deals on clothing and household brands. QD's Marketing Operations Manager, Alan Hatcher, expressed delight at the town's turn out which made opening day such a great success. "Today we've seen crowds streaming through the doors of the new store. We couldn't have hoped for a warmer reception and everyone's reaction to the diversity of our range and the great deals on offer has been extremely positive. We have every confidence that the store will prove a valuable asset to the town adding a new dimension to local shopping." QD's stores offer a vast selection of quality goods at low prices. In-store, shoppers in Saffron Walden can look forward to great value household essentials, soft furnishings and linens, along with everyday basics such as groceries, stationery, petcare and gardening goods. The Saffron Walden store has created a total of 12 full-time and part-time jobs. The Group as a whole currently employs over 1,000 staff throughout its nationwide chain of high street shops, Cherry Lane garden centres, Buyright superstore in Suffolk, and specialist fishing and shopping outlet, Lathams, on the Norfolk Broads. The company plans to increase the number of its high street stores to 50 by the end of 2010.
