Sugar and Spice and All Things Nice as QD’s Boston Store Celebrates its 1st Anniversary

A year ago the opening of QD's new Boston store made television headline news as around 1,800 applicants queued for jobs. This week, following a very successful 12 months of trading, preparations are underway to mark the store's 1st anniversary with the launch of an innovative competition for customers.

QD is offering customers the chance to win a stylish Milton patio set worth £48.99 by entering its birthday competition. Customers are invited to guess the total number of 1kg bags of Tate and Lyle sugar sold in the store over the past 12 months. At just 66p per bag, sugar ranks highly amongst QD's best-selling products.

There's a prize in store as QD in Boston celebrates its 1st anniversary this month. Customers are invited to guess the number of bags of sugar sold over the past 12 months giving them the chance to win a stylish patio set for summertime entertaining which includes a table, four chairs plus a parasol.

Store Manager, Leon Gregori, hit upon the idea of basing the competition on sales of sugar because the total will come as a surprise to many. "We want to say a big thank you to customers who have shopped with us throughout our first 12 months of trading and have made this store such a success in the town. I'm sure that shoppers will enjoy taking part in the competition and discovering what a sweet tooth the population of Boston obviously has!"

Customers are invited to post their estimate and contact details into the in-store post box; the winner will be presented with their prize at the store by Leon Gregori. The competition runs from Wednesday, 21st July, the day of the store's anniversary, until close of business on Sunday, 1st August.

The Boston store became the fourth in a string of QD high street outlets to open in 2009. The retail group, which also owns the Cherry Lane chain of garden centres, Lathams of Potter Heigham and the Buyright Superstore in Hadleigh, Suffolk, continues to go from strength to strength and has recently been listed among the top 75 retail businesses in the Eastern Daily Press Business Guide 2010.
