QD’s Holbeach Store Undergoes a Major Redesign as Customer Numbers Continue to Rise

QD Stores has carried out a major redesign of its Holbeach store which opened in February this year in order to accommodate the rising numbers of customers attracted by the retailer's low pricing on quality products.

To improve customer access and flow, all main aisles at the front of the shop have been considerably widened providing a more spacious look and feel to the store's entrance along with an enhanced display area. Throughout the store all aisles have been substantially increased and the improved design also allows a wider choice of goods for shoppers.

The store's redesign has concentrated on those departments which are proving most popular with the town's shoppers. With groceries consistently amongst the store's best-selling lines, this area has been restyled and relocated to a more prominent position within the store. It now covers a greater area of the shop floor to allow space for a significant number of new products and brands.

Mindful of the needs of Holbeach's keen gardeners, the store's previously sizeable gardening area has also been extended to accommodate new seasonal lines.

QD's Marketing Operations Manager, Alan Hatcher, who attended the opening and has made frequent visits to Holbeach in the intervening months, reaffirmed just how successful the store, which was the first of the Group's compact format outlets, is in terms of attracting customer numbers. "We've decided to invest further in this store because it is proving such a vital and convenient outlet in the town. This redesign has enabled us to stock greater numbers of the quality brands and household names for which QD is so well-known. A creative approach to the new layout has enabled us to combine a spacious and welcoming look and feel with all the practicalities of a busy town centre store."

The Group currently employs over 1,000 staff throughout its nationwide chain of high street shops, Cherry Lane garden centres, Buyright superstore in Suffolk, and specialist fishing outlet, Lathams, on the Norfolk Broads and was recently listed among the top 75 retail businesses in the Eastern Daily Press Business Guide 2010.
