Brand New QD Store to Open in Wrexham

As part of its continuing expansion programme, the QD Stores Group has announced that it is to open a new store in the centre of Wrexham. The retailer's first outlet in the region will create around twenty new jobs.

Following a major refurbishment of the premises formerly occupied by Marks and Spencer, the spacious new store, which will stock thousands of quality and branded goods including homeware and clothing, is due to open its doors to customers on 25th May and will offer shoppers a wide selection of quality brands at extremely competitive prices.

A recent finalist in the prestigious Oracle® Retail Week Awards for 2010, QD, which also owns the Cherry Lane chain of garden centres in Norfolk, Suffolk and Yorkshire, was selected by a panel of industry experts as a highly successful "Emerging Retailer of the Year". Ten new high street stores have been opened by the Group over the past 12 months and more are planned this year with a view to increasing the number of store locations to 50 across the UK.

By offering customers high quality at low prices, an extensive choice of goods in-store, including many leading brands, and insisting upon rigorous standards of customer service, QD has fast become the shopping destination of choice for a growing number of the UK's shoppers.

QD's Marketing Operations Manager, Alan Hatcher, confirmed the positive impact new stores have made on local communities. "Following each of our new store openings, experience shows that the presence of a QD store on the high street has greatly increased trade across the entire town centre and I'm sure Wrexham will prove to be no exception."

QD already has a strong high street presence in the East and Home Counties. The Wrexham store becomes the retail group's most westerly store to date and will provide optimum retail space in a prime location to give local people affordable and convenient town centre shopping.

Alan Hatcher commented on the company's move to Clwyd. "Wrexham is an important location for a regional flagship store as it serves a wide geographical area. We're delighted to be introducing the QD brand, and our unique blend of high quality and great value, to a new customer base. Although local people may not be familiar with QD at present, they will soon discover that our shopping concept is all about offering customers an up market shopping experience. We offer an extensive choice of major household brands, all of which are available at surprisingly low prices."

With a trading floor of 19,000 square feet, Wrexham's sizeable store will stock all of QD's key lines with the promise to customers of unbeatable value. The vast range includes homeware, fashion for all the family, DIY essentials and even kitchen cupboard staples such as coffee, tea and sugar. Its location brings the added convenience of being able to shop locally for a wide selection of goods. By drawing customers in from the surrounding area, the need for longer journeys and costly parking in larger towns such as Chester is greatly reduced.

QD's stores offer a vast selection of quality goods at low prices. In-store, shoppers in Wrexham can look forward to great value clothing and accessories for all the family, household essentials and soft furnishings, along with everyday basics such as groceries and stationery.

The Group currently employs over 1,000 staff throughout its nationwide chain of high street shops, Cherry Lane garden centres, Buyright superstore in Suffolk, and specialist fishing outlet, Lathams, on the Norfolk Broads. The company plans to increase the number of its high street stores from 34 to 50 by the end of 2010.
