QD’s Wrexham Store Opens for Business At 9 am sharp on Tuesday, 25th May QD's eagerly awaited new store in Wrexham was officially opened by Councillor Jim Kelly. Waiting to greet the throng of shoppers who gathered outside to watch the opening ceremony, was the store's new team, recruited from the 800 or so applicants who applied for jobs at the shop, and who have spent weeks putting the final preparations in place. Baskets were quickly filled as the first customers took advantage of special deals on clothing and household brands. QD's Marketing Operations Manager, Alan Hatcher, expressed delight at the town's turn out which made opening day such a great success. "Today we've seen crowds streaming through the doors of the new store. We certainly couldn't have hoped for a warmer reception and everyone's reaction to QD's arrival and the great deals on offer has been extremely positive. We have every confidence that the store will prove a valuable asset to the town adding a new dimension to local shopping." QD's stores offer a vast selection of quality goods at low prices. In-store, shoppers in Wrexham can look forward to great value clothing and accessories for all the family, household essentials and soft furnishings, along with everyday basics such as groceries and stationery. The Wrexham store has created a total of 28 full-time and part-time jobs. The Group as a whole currently employs over 1,000 staff throughout its nationwide chain of high street shops, Cherry Lane garden centres, Buyright superstore in Suffolk, and specialist fishing and shopping outlet, Lathams, on the Norfolk Broads. The company plans to increase the number of its high street stores to 50 by the end of 2010.
