QD Stores enjoy best Christmas trading ever One of QD’s best selling Christmas Mega Deals – the iTower, (RRP £149.00) in store now at £79.98
QD Stores, an independently owned chain of discounted retail outlets situated throughout the East of England, the Home Counties and also in Wrexham, North Wales, enjoyed a bumper Christmas in 2010 with like for like sales up 3.8%. Despite the appalling weather and snowy conditions, QD's loyal customers took advantage of the numerous great deals to be had, giving the company one of their best Christmases ever. Particularly pleasing was the performance of the new stores which opened last year, in particular the QD outlets at Holbeach and Saffron Walden. Justin Farrington-Smith, Managing Director of QD, comments: "Having a balanced portfolio of stores helps us to take advantage of any product opportunities offered to us by suppliers and our ability to take stock in at short notice allows us to pass on amazing value to the people who shop with us." Alan Hatcher, Marketing Director of QD, reports: "Christmas decorations sold particularly well with a wide spread of products within the range showing an increase in sales of 50%. QD's "Mega Deals" have proved to be attractive to customers, QD and suppliers alike, with Christmas Mega Deals, including the Sega Gaming Console and the iTower exceeding sales expectations." Perhaps a big reason for the group's 2010 success at Christmas is down to the amazing commitment of its workers. During the heavy snow, many staff walked to work, helped clear car parks, carried shopping to customers' cars and even delivered to homes. "As is their custom, QD employees performed over and above the norm to ensure the company had a really great Christmas" said Alan Hatcher.
